Environmentally friendly aviation hub will be in Malaysia

Asian Aviation City is the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Center and is still in the concept stage, which will be a complete R&D facility, office, academic campus, a conference center and residential area. It will be designed by Atkins Design. The coverage will span 3.28 square kilometers and will be connected to the airport via a light rail system. Electric cars will also be used to transport people and from the area.

This will be just 20 minutes from Kuala Lumpur city centre. AirAsia will adhere to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building standards and become an important environmentally friendly aviation hub in Asia. This will generate solar power, collect rainwater and operate in an energy efficient way. The project is an important part of Malaysia’s economic transformation plan and a goal of becoming a self-sufficient industrialized country.
