On February 22, 2014, Afghan President Hamid Karzai met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Presidential Palace.
Wang Yi first conveyed to President Karzai the cordial greetings from President Xi Jinping. Wang Yi said that this year is the key transition year for Afghanistan. My visit to Afghanistan is to send a clear message. China attaches great importance to China-Arab relations and will continue to firmly adhere to the friendly policy toward Afghanistan and firmly support the domestic political reconciliation and reconstruction process. It is believed that with the joint efforts of the Afghan government and the people, Afghanistan will be able to smooth the transition and continue to make new progress in reconciliation and reconstruction.
Karzai asked Wang Yi to convey his regards to President Xi Jinping. He said that the two countries have long-standing traditional friendship and mutual trust. In recent years, the relationship between Afghanistan and China has developed rapidly. The Afghan government and people are not only satisfied with this, but also cherish it. Regardless of how the political situation changes in the future, the policy of adhering to China’s friendship and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation will never change.
